Acclaimed German director Gabriele Jakobi has adapted the classic short story by Franz Kafka into a provocative drama featuring Scena’s Artistic Director, Robert McNamara. Plot: an intelligent ape named Red Peter is captured in an African hunting expedition and shipped to Europe. To survive, Peter learns to imitate the ship’s crew from his cage. He evolves to behave like a human and escapes. Later, Peter presents his tale of transformation, and the horrid details of his former life, to a scientific Academy.
